Entrepreneurial Skills

We have been listening to our beneficiaries and learnt that the most relevant courses we could provide to them was a program to help them in developing their entrepreneurial skills. This also links with our plans to provide new skills to the people in our communities enabling them to access information and skills on how to start up and/or boost their businesses. We want to encourage our beneficiaries to become self-reliant and able to earn a living to promote positive changes within their lives.

Our plan for the next 4 years is to train 100 beneficiaries per year in entrepreneurship within this Nakawa and Kira regions. Each Youth Livelihood program will teach our participants various skills including how to be innovative with their business ideas and to encourage them to live out their dreams whilst providing for themselves and their families. We will use our training facility at the Caring Hands office where our staff are on hand to teach and support our beneficiaries throughout the program encouraging them to be the best they can be.

Apprenticeships

We will also be running apprenticeships and vocational course for 12 out of school youths per year to train them in practical skills with local businesses so that they can learn the skills necessary to be successful in the workplace. By 2020, we aim to have trained 48 out of school youths through this program so that they can learn invaluable skills that will help them to become employed or create new ventures for their futures.

PC Lab

We are in the planning stages of facilitating a new computer laboratory housing 20 PC's and accessories in the Wakiso district. We want to make sure the skills we are teaching our beneficiaries are relevant to the working world today. Computers and digital skills are a massive advantage to anyone to have these days and we aim to make sure our programs are up to date and current to offer our beneficiaries all the tools they need to develop their business knowledge.

We want to use the PC Lab to train youths within our program in Information Communication Technology to grow micro businesses. By acquiring these skills they will be able to market their business and use the lab to research further ideas. Our target is to train 120 youths in Wakiso and Kampala by 2020 running programs for 30 students per year. We will support them during the program to make sure they are developing their skills and also when they put these skills into action to create their own businesses.

We will keep you updated on the progress of all of our new programs with regular photos and stories of our beneficiaries on Facebook and Instagram. Please visit and follow our pages to keep in touch with us and see the work that we are doing.
