VILLAGE SAVINGS AND LOANS (VSLA)

Since Caring Hands began we have always worked to help the poorest families in our local communities to empower them with new skills to make a positive impact on their lives. One way we are hoping to achieve this is by contributing to the reduction of poverty levels throughout Uganda as part of the Governments plans to reduce poverty levels to 5% by 2020.

In order to reach this target, our aim is to start a further 24 VSLA groups within the Nakawa and Wakiso areas which will grow consistently over the next 4 years to reach 400 people by 2020. Each one of our beneficiaries that are involved in a group will be given full training on the using VSLA and our team will continue to offer support to the groups as they progress. We are hopeful that each new group will be able to follow the same success as previous groups and they are able to save and mobilise funds which will grow year on year. We show our beneficiaries that managing to save even just a little amount consistently can in return offer them access to funds which ca be used to start their own business or use for family needs and school fees.
